Burnley FC striker Martin Paterson has admitted he was relieved to notch his first Premier League goal for Burnley even though his side were trounced 5-2 by Aston Villa.

Paterson was on target in the 90th minute to bag a consolation goal for his side.

He told the club's official website: "It's frustrating it's come in the circumstances it did. It was a good landmark for me after my injury. It's been a long road back.

"I went from being in the team and playing week-in, week-out to sitting on my couch for four months and not playing football.

"I have been trying to get back and I got a chance to come on up front and managed to nick one.

"I have just got to keep doing my best and believe in myself that I will score goals."
