Burnley FC manager Brian Laws believes his new recruits will re-instil a sense of the unknown in his side that will make opponents wary again in the second half of the season.

At the start of the season the Clarets were hotly-tipped to get relegated, but they surprised any by sitting in mid-table in November after triumphs over Manchester United and Everton.

However, they are now in the bottom three of the Premier League and need to start picking up points.

Laws is hoping his new signings Frederic Nimani, Leon Cort, Nicky Weaver, Danny Fox and Jack Cork will pose opponents problems in their remaining fixtures as they will be unknown quantities in the current campaign.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: "You talk about the first part of the season in the Premier League and they got away with a lot because they were an unknown quantity in the division.

"But the second half of the season is always the toughest because the opposition know more about you.

"They know your weaknesses and hopefully we've filled in those weaknesses and given them something else to worry about."
