Algeria captain Yazid Mansouri claims he received offers from the Premier League during the January transfer window, one of which is believed to be Burnley FC.
He finally decided to stay with his current club Lorient but has not ruled out a move to England in the summer.
"I was close to agreeing a move to an English club, everything was done," the 31-year-old midfielder wrote on his skyrock page.
"I am not saying the name of the club, because Lorient officials have convinced me to stay at the club until the end of the season.
"I could, however, join the English club at the end of the season."
Mansouri played a significant part in helping Algeria to the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations.
