Clarets boss Brian Laws tried to secure a deal for the versatile defensive midfielder at Sheffield Wednesday at the start of the last campaign
However, he eventually lost out to Coventry City where Cork spent four months.
The Lancashire Telegraph claims the Burnley boss has resurrected his interest in the 20-year-old.
He is said to be looking to strengthen his side’s midfield in an effort to keep the club in the Premier League.
