It is reported that Derby County full-back Jay McEveley is a target for Burnley FC.
The Sun claims Clarets boss Brian Laws will turn to McEveley if Burnley's move for Celtic left-back Danny Fox falls through.
The Clarets have been aiming to conclude Fox's £1.8million transfer for the last few days.
But boss Laws is also working on alternatives and former Blackburn man McEveley - out of contract at Pride Park in the summer - would be a cheaper option.
Laws said: "If it's not Fox it will be someone else. No deal has been done yet and we have done a lot of talking with a lot of people."
