Burnley’s Mears hopes Capello is watching

Clarets full-back Tyrone Mears believes he has a chance of staking a claim for a spot in England boss Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad.

Asked if he felt a place was up for grabs he said: “I don’t know. I think anything can happen in football. I hope my performances will warrant him (Capello) coming to games.

”Whether he's watching other players and I happen to be playing in the same game I hope he does come and watch and get to see for himself.

“I feel I'm playing well enough as any other right back in the league.”
