Clarets boss Owen Coyle is pleased that the club’s scouting system is beginning to reap dividends.

In the last few days 19-year-old Cork City defender Kevin Long Republic of Ireland Under 17s centre half Neil Yadolahi have joined the club’s first-year scholars’ ranks.

In addition, Joe McKee arrived from Scottish club Livingston on a youth apprenticeship earlier in the season.

Coyle has praised the work of his scouts.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph he said: “We’ve got terrific links in Scotland and Ireland, and I believe there’s terrific players, as there are in England.

“What we do offer here is a chance for young players to come in, improve, and if they’re good enough, they’ll get the platform to play.

“That’s a big thing for us, and hopefully if there’s (sic) young players out there, of the quality we believe can enhance the club, we’ll do our utmost to bring them here.”
