Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel claimed the boos he received from the Turf Moor faithful at the weekend had no effect.

Friedel was subjected to special attention from the home fans due to his long association with Blackburn Rovers.

However, the experienced American said it did not impair his performance in his side’s 1-1 draw.

Speaking on the Aston Villa website he said: "The barracking didn't affect me. I am too old for all that. I actually enjoy playing in atmospheres like that.

"It wasn't too hostile to be fair. A lot of people said hello when I arrived, had a go at me during the game and then said goodbye afterwards. So it's OK."
