Clarets boss has admitted he expected his side to secure all three points at home to high-flying Aston Villa.
Instead, he had to be content with a point after Emile Heskey scored a late equaliser for Villa.
Speaking to the Lancashire telegraph he bemoaned: “I thought we were well placed to get the three points.
“We were outstanding in the first-half. We passed and moved the ball and created numerous opportunities.
“We scored a good goal and Brad Friedel made one or two exceptional saves in the game.
“But we always knew in the second half that Villa were going to come back at us.
“Brian (Jensen) made a great save from (Gabriel) Agbonlahor but, other than that, I don’t recall too many real opportunities for them in the game.
“But we have paid the price for not clearing a corner properly and not dealing with it when it’s come back in.
“I’m disappointed, I can’t ask for anything more from that group of players.
“Each and every one of them worked their socks off and showed real quality on the ball.”
He added: “We have to learn at this level, evolve and make sure we retain our Premier League status.
“Three points would have a great way towards that. As it is, we take just one point, like we did against Manchester City, and we look to move on.”
