Bolton Wanderers skipper Kevin Davies has revealed his delight at making his England debut against Montenegro last night even though he received a booking.
The Wanderers striker replaced Peter Crouch in the 69th minute but could not help England break the deadlock as they played out a 0-0 draw at Wembley.
Davies told Sky Sports News: "I think the booking was disappointing.
"Maybe a lot of people might have expected it but it's disappointing.
"Obviously the player went down screaming and the referee booked me."
Speaking about being part of the England set-up he added: "It's brilliant. From the first moment I arrived I've enjoyed every minute of it.
"I've been working really hard in training and trying to make an impression and I think hopefully I've done that because obviously the manager threw me on for the last 20 minutes to try and win the game, which we didn't quite do.
"But I'm absolutely delighted to have won the cap."
He continued: "Overall I came on and created a few chances and had a couple of half-chances but it just didn't quite happen.
"It would have been nice to come on and score the winning goal but we have to move on and I think we've got more than enough to still qualify."
