According to reports Preston North End are trying to ward off interest from Bolton Wanderers in their teenage Adam Barton.
It is believed that Wanderers are set to battle it out with Premier League rivals Sunderland.
Scouts have been tracking the 19-year-old this season but Preston are looking to keep hold of him.
North End chairman Maurice Lindsay said: "I don’t care if it was Manchester City or another rich club interested.
"He has a lot of progress to make at this club. The only way that progress could get interrupted and spoilt is if outside pressure comes from greedy agents or interfering club managers who want to plunder Preston."
