Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies believes there is no ill-feeling between his club and Arsenal FC.

Davies believes whatever conflict existed was a result of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s prickly relationship with former Reebok chief Sam Allardyce.

He argues there is no longer a problem between the two clubs.

Asked to comment on the conflict between Arsenal and Bolton Wanderers, Davies told Absolute Radio: “I’m not too sure. I think it all started obviously playing under big Sam.

“I think he got under Arsene Wenger’s nose a little bit and I think he probably still is with the game we saw last week at Blackburn, but you know, a lots been made of it.

“We’ve upset them a few times in the past and beat them, but it’s been a while since we beat
one of the big boys, so I think these next two or three fixtures coming up, it would be nice
to have a stab.”

Although the Trotters’ captain was eager to play down any ill-feeling between themselves and Wenger, Davies suggested they have struggled to shrug off the preconception that Bolton play ugly football.

He continued: “I think it will take a lot more to shake that off really. I think we’ve been labelled a certain side for a number of years, but, you know, we don’t really care too much about that.

“I think we’ve shown over the last year that we can play some good football and played some good sides off the park at times.”
