Bolton Wanderers have agreed to release Danny Shittu.

Boss Owen Coyle named a 24-man Premier League squad for this season and the Nigerian did not make it.

Shittu joined from Watford in 2008 for £2 million but has only made 12 appearances.

Shittu has now received a pay off from Wanderers and is a free-agent which means he can find another club outside of the transfer window.

Mustapha also did not make the squad but it seems Riga was unable to negotiate a similar deal and is therefore still a Wanderers player.

However, he cannot play for the club now until January should Coyle agree to include him in his next squad.
