Bolton Wanderers are digesting the news that they will be without midfielder Sean Davis as they prepare for the visit of Birmingham City.

Davis has only just returned from a knee injury which kept him out for almost the whole of last season.

But it appears he aggravated the problem during a reserve match against Manchester City and is expected to be out for up to another two months.

Despite this disappointment, Wanderers lie fifth in the table, one above Birmingham, enjoying their best start to a campaign in nine years.

Striker Ivan Klasnic faces a late fitness test after being forced off at half-time against Southampton with a thigh problem.

Wanderers will definitely be without Gavin McCann (ankle) and Joey O'Brien (knee).

Possible line-up: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Knight, Cahill, Robinson, Lee, Muamba, Holden, Petrov, K Davies, Elmander.
