Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has revealed he is happy to be Jussi Jaaskelainen’s understudy.

The Oman international made the move to the Reebok Stadium from Lyn Oslo at the start of 2006 but The 28-year-old has failed to make a Premier League appearance in the last two campaigns, and has made just two appearances overall this season in the Carling Cup and the FA Cup.

He told Bolton News: "It is hard behind Jussi Jaaskelainen because he's one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

"It is disappointing for me that I haven't had more chances in the Carling Cup or the other cup games.

"When you are second choice with any club you look forward to at least playing in the cup games. This is what I need sometimes, yet I haven't had many chances recently."

He added: "I have patience, I have respect for my club and respect for my contract and, in the end, it's the gaffer's choice who plays.

"I am happy here. Bolton is a fantastic football club, fantastic people to work with, and you never know in football. You never know what tomorrow brings."
