Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle was delighted with Gary Cahill's performance despite his side’s defeat to Manchester United.
Coyle brought back Cahill for his first start in 11 games and believes his return from a potentially season-ending blood clot was a major positive to take from the game.
“The fact he came through unscathed was a big plus for us,” he said. “He did well.
“In fact, it was never a game where you couldn’t get out of your own half and had to ride a barrage and a storm.
“I don’t recall too many more opportunities for Manchester United to score. Jussi (Jaaskelainen) made one from Dimitar Berbatov in the first half but I can’t recall too many more saves.
“That shows how much we put into the game but, because of their quality, if you switch off at any given moment then you will be punished.”
