David Moyes hailed the patience of his players after Everton FC had to wait until the final stages of the clash with Bolton Wanderers to secure their win.
The Toffees eventually won 2-0 after Mikel Arteta fired home a free-kick and Steven Pienaar scored in the final stages.
Although they overran their opponents due to Gretar Steinsson's sending off in the run-up to Arteta's goal, Moyes admitted that they lacked in the final third for much of the contest.
"I thought the players played fine," he told Sky Sports after the match.
"We lacked a little bit in the final third, Bolton made it difficult for us to score. We had to stay patient."
Moyes was satisfied with the way Everton controlled possession throughout the half.
"I thought (in) the scrap in the first half we did quite well," he added.
"We kept it, they had one chance where Tim made a good save but I felt that we controlled most of the play.
"We just couldn't quite get the final bit in - a good cross or the final pass. But I was pleased enough with how the players performed."
