Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has confirmed Gary Cahill could make the squad to face Everton FC this weekend.
The central defender was sidelined after developing a blood clot in his arm.
It was feared his season was over but the clot has since dissolved and he has returned to training.
Coyle said: "It is terrific to have Gary back training with the group. We are all very pleased with his progress and we will keep monitoring him."
Cahill is determined to make an impact for Bolton and clinch a place in England's World Cup squad.
He said: "It is a case of working hard and getting back up to match sharpness. It is not the longest injury or illness so it has been easy to slot straight back in.
"But I am bound to lose a little bit of fitness because I have been out of the game. Hopefully I can play a part in the rest of the season."
