Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle believes he can make Kevin Davies a better player.
The Scot was speaking after Wanderers’ 2-1 victory away at West Ham United in which the striker scored the first with a header and set up the second for Jack Wilshere.
"We are nowhere near safety, we are still entrenched in that group of seven or eight teams there and anything could happen," said Coyle.
"But if I get performances of the standard of Kevin Davies here then that'll stand us in good stead and result in us winning games. He sets an example at the training ground. The players have the ultimate respect for him.
"He's got a real appetite for the game, he loves the football club and I think you can see how he goes about it.
"Hopefully I can help Kevin as much as he can help me at the football club and he can continue to get better."
