Wanderers midfielder Sean Davis will miss the rest of the season with his knee injury.
Articular cartilage damage has kept him out since September and he has since had surgery.
Speaking to the Bolton News he said: "I know I am not going to play again this season.
"To have had an injury for this long, I would rather see it out and be 100 per cent for pre-season.
“Hopefully, if everything goes right, I should be back in April but for me, I don't want to rush it.
"If everything is going well then, fine, but I don't want to have an operation like that and then mess it up.
“It would be pointless. I want to play everything by the book."
