Bolton's Megson attacks FIFA over World Cup seeding

Wanderers boss Gary Megson has criticised FIFA over the way in which Republic of Ireland were disadvantaged in the World Cup play-offs.

France were expected to qualify automatically from their group but instead finished runners-up to Serbia.

Megson argues it is wrong that clubs are seeded in the play-offs.

He said: "I think that is a little bit out of order.

“With all due respect France have made a bit of a mess of it, not to qualify outright.

“Ireland, though, have been fantastic in what they did. Their reward was to be stuck in against another huge team.

“It was really unfair on them. Perhaps they should have been seeded."

With all due respect...France were lucky to qualify...They were also lucky to have played a Serb team that were lacking confidence...France?
