Wanderers full-back Paul Robinson has seen little action since joining from West Bromwich Albion in the summer.
But Jlloyd Samuel’s dismissal against Chelsea on Saturday gave Robinson an unexpected outing.
Megson was pleased with his performance and saw it as a chance for him to show what he can do.
Speaking on the club’s website he said: “Paul will get that opportunity. He got it against Chelsea and I thought he did ever so well in the second half.
“That is why we need a strong squad because if Jlloyd comes out of the team or, indeed, anybody else, then there is somebody going in who will have the bit between their teeth to try and stay in the team.
“If Paul does well, we get the result and everything goes our way then it won’t be changed.”
