Bolton v Chelsea: match preview

Chelsea and Bolton meet for the second time in less than a week having contested a one-sided Carling Cup fourth round tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Wanderers were routed 4-0 and manager Gary Megson will hope his defence can do a better job of containing the Blues' attacking threat this afternoon.

However, on the six occasions Chelsea have faced back-to-back league and cup games in the last 15 years, the result has been repeated four times.

It is anticipated that Megson will make changes with the influential striker and Kevin Davies expected to return to lead the line.

Davies could be partnered by Ivan Klasnic, who played at the Bridge on Wednesday and scored the winner in Wanderers' last league game against Everton last weekend.

Possible starting XI: Jaaskelainen, Samuel, Ricketts, Cahill, Knight, Taylor, Muamba, Cohen, Gardner, Davies, Klasnic
