Bolton Wanderers striker Sordell recalls deadline day dilemma

Bolton Wanderers forward Marvin Sordell has been speaking about his aborted January move to Cardiff City ahead of the clash with the Bluebirds tomorrow.

Sordell seemed set to be heading to the Cardiff City Stadium in January, but instead joined Wanderers on deadline day.

The England Under-21 international has admitted that the lure of Premier League football was the key factor. Ironically, Wanderers were relegated last season.

Sordell may face his former suiters on Saturday afternoon and he recalls how events unfolded in the final hours of deadline day.

"It literally came down to the wire, talking about contracts on deadline day," Sordell told WalesOnline.co.uk.

"I was due to play a game at Millwall that night and in my mind I was joining Cardiff. As it happened, I was pulled out of the team and then it all changed.

"One minute I was on my way to Cardiff, the next minute Bolton came in and asked me to go up there. It was a tough decision, but it was Premiership football and you never know what can happen in football.

"It's a very short career and anything can happen at any time. You've got to take any opportunity you can get."
