Blackpool have snapped up former Charlton Athletic defender Miguel Angel Llera on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old Spaniard has agreed a one-year deal at Bloomfield Road with the option of a further 12 months following his release from the Addicks this summer.

Llera arrived in England in 2008 when he signed for MK Dons from Hercules - and moved to The Valley a season later.

But after only notching a total of 18 appearances last term, the centre-back was allowed to leave and Seasiders boss Ian Holloway swooped to add some much-needed competition to the Blackpool defence.

I've known Llera since playing for my team Gimnastic de Tarragona, he is a dedicated player and he likes playing forward, scoring with head.

I thought he was the most constructive of our recent central defenders- but had only a few good games. I'd have tried him as a "striker"
