West Bromwich Albion are believed to be in pole position to land in-demand Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan.
The Wales international is available on a free transfer and the Baggies have held preliminary talks with the 28-year-old, according to the Express & Star.
Vaughan has also drawn interest from Sunderland and Rangers, although the Welshman is apparently favouring a move to The Hawthorns with the club lying closer to his family.
However, the Seasiders haven’t given up hope of keeping their star man, with chairman Karl Oyston putting an improved contract offer on the table.
“I have spoken to the chairman at length about the future," Ian Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette.
"He knows how much I want to keep this squad together and what needs to be done to try to achieve that.”
Fellow out-of-contract pair Stephen Crainey and Matt Gilks have also been offered improved deals, although Crainey has been linked with a move to Bristol City.
