Ian Holloway has hit out at ESPN pundit Kevin Keegan who claimed Charlie Adam should have been sent off for his challenge on Spurs midfielder Gareth Bale.
The Wales international went down clutching his left ankle following a challenge from the Blackpool skipper, before subsequently being stretchered off the field.
Holloway immediately jumped to his player's defence, insisting Adam would never have intentionally hurt the star.
"He (Adam) almost came here so why would he want to hurt anybody?" Holloway said.
"I'm disappointed that Kevin has said that. He's entitled to his opinion and he is paid for it. I have my own and I totally disagree.
"Hasn't Kevin ever been slightly late? This level is so quick. Charlie tried to get there and it was genuine. He will have to learn to deal with the spotlight.
Speaking to talkSport about the incident, Adam said: "I never meant to go over the top because I'm one of these players who want to see the best players in the country on the pitch and he's one of them.
"It was sad to see a player like him go off because he's a terrific player but there was no malice in it. I went to win the ball."
