David Vaughan could play through pain-killing injections in a bid to help Blackpool retain their Premier League status.
The Seasiders slipped into the relegation zone for the first time this season following Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic.
The Welsh international has been sidelined for the club's past three defeats with a hip injury that looked to have ended his season prematurely.
But a specialist has ruled that the injury need not stop Vaughan playing in Pool’s final five games starting with the home clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.
The club said in a statement on their official website: "The midfielder visited a specialist on Thursday to assess an ongoing hip problem but he may now resume training after some fluid has subsided."
Holloway added: "The little fella does make a huge difference to our team.
"We can play him through what his problem is and we won't damage him anymore.
"He had an injection (on Saturday) so we couldn't use him but that might be some decent news for us."
