Blackpool's home clash against Liverpool could be the first Boxing Day fixture to fall afoul of the big freeze.
The Seasiders, who don't possess under soil heating facilities at their Bloomfield Road ground, have seen their last two home fixtures postponed against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur due to the adverse weather conditions.
Acting chief executive Karl Oyston is currently in talks with the Premier League in a bid to see the game go ahead but admitted that various factors both on and off the pitch will play a part in the final decision.
He said: "We can almost certainly guarantee the pitch will be playable but it is the prevailing conditions once the covers have been removed and whether the pitch will freeze before the end of the game taking place.
"That is one we are talking to the Premier League about to see what their standpoint and inspection protocol will be."
