Blackpool let a two goal lead slip as Bolton battled back to earn a point at the Reebok.
Ian Evatt headed Blackpool into an early lead from Elliott Grandin’s corner, before Luke Varney repeated the feat at the beginning of the second half to send the tangerine faithful into ecstasy.
But late strikes from Martin Petrov and Mark Davies rained on their parade as the game finished honours even.
It was the Seasiders' first trip to Bolton since 1993 for a fixture in the Football League's second tier.
Both sides have made great strides since then and served up a match that was a great advertisement for the Premier League.
Bolton had the better of the opening exchanges, looking the more efficient side in the final third.
It was a counter attack that provided their first opportunity when Kevin Davies ran through to test Richard Kingson with an effort the Ghanaian tipped round the post.
Matthew Taylor nearly celebrated his 29th birthday with a goal, but his dipping half volley landed on the roof of the net with Kingson scrambling.
Luke Varney, who was impressive on the flank all game for Blackpool, presented DJ Campbell with a chance on the edge of the box but his effort was deflected wide.
The Seasiders took the lead against the run of play when Ian Evatt rose at the front post to guide Grandin’s corner into the far corner, leaving Jussi Jaaskelainan clutching at air.
Gary Taylor Fletcher had a golden opportunity to double the lead soon after, but fired horribly over from Charlie Adam’s cross.
In form striker Johan Elmander had a point blank header saved at the other end, before firing straight at Kingson after some neat interplay at the end of the first half.
The second half started with the home side in the ascendancy, and Lee Chung-Yong had an effort well saved by Kingson.
But the Seasiders soon begun to find their feet, and Varney doubled the lead when he headed home another Grandin corner through a crowd of players.
The loan star was then inches away from grabbing his second when he saw a header well saved from Eardley’s cross.
DJ Campbell could have put the game beyond doubt, but missed two gilt-edged chances in point blank positions.
He firstly fired wide after being fed by Adam, and then drew Jaaskelainen into a stunning stop after running on to Grandin’s through-ball.
Bolton earned themselves a lifeline when substitute Martin Petrov struck a sweet volley into the top corner, setting up a grand stand finale.
The home side started to pour forward and Kevin Davies missed when it was easier to score, poking wide with the goal at his mercy.
But Mark Davies fired in a deserved equaliser from close range after an intricate passing move between himself, Elmander and Klasnic that wouldn’t have looked out of place at the Nou Camp.
It’s a disappointing result for the Seasiders who will feel aggrieved at conceding twice in the last 15 minutes.
Credit must go to Bolton who kept battling away - they could easily have snatched the game at the death.
The result keeps Blackpool in the top half of the table, in tenth position.
