Ian Holloway has threatened to quit the club after the Premier League confirmed they are investigating his team selection for last night's 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa.
Holloway made ten changes for the trip to Villa Park, and it was suggested he was resting key players with one eye on Saturday's trip to West Ham rather than giving some of his fringe players a chance.
When asked what he would do if his team were to be punished, he fumed: "I'd pack it in — I can't work for this madness."
"I would resign. They do not know what they're talking about."
"If some person from the Premier League even tried to tell me who I should pick — I am the manager of Blackpool football club, I select people to come to the club and play them whenever I want."
"How dare anyone suggest we have more chance of beating West Ham than Aston Villa."
"I came here to try and beat Aston Villa and I'm going to go to West Ham and try and beat them too and if I pick a different team I've got every right to do what I like."
The Premier League will write to Blackpool before deciding what action to take, after setting a precedent last year when Wolves were given a suspended £25,000 fine after manager Mick McCarthy made ten changes to his side to face Manchester United.
Holloway maintains his side was not weakened and that he had no choice because of the club's busy schedule.
He added: "Let them try and fine me — it's an absolute disgrace."
"That's not a weakened team — it's absolute rubbish to suggest so."
"How can I be fined for picking a team that nearly beat Aston Villa and deserved at least a draw?"
"I can't keep picking the same XI when the others are trying their heart out and never give them a chance."
"I've known all the way along this season that I'd reward the ones who did well for me last year and then try some new ones."
"I believe in what I do and I believe in the people I've bought. I'm absolutely adamant Blackpool football club represented itself absolutely magnificently on and off the field this evening."
