Blackpool FC captain Charlie Adam is taking the club to court following a contract dispute over unpaid bonuses.
The 24 year old Scotland international claims he is owed £20,000 as part of the contract he signed to seal his move from Rangers last year.
A clause stipulated he would be paid a bonus for every season the Seasiders, who were then a Championship club, survived the drop.
The team defied the odds to win promotion though, with Adam sharing a £5million bonus windfall with his team-mates based on their rise to the top flight.
The Scotsman believes he is also due the survival bonus that was stated in his contract too though.
Three other Blackpool players are also battling for a similar bonus. A Premier League arbitration court is set to determine the outcome in London next Wednesday.
If Adam wins, it will bring the legitimacy of his contract under scrutiny and could even open up a loophole for him to become a free agent as a consequence.
Speaking about the matter, boss Ian Holloway said: "If there is a problem then it's none of my business. That's between the club and one of the players and it will be sorted out by arbitration by the sound of it so as far as I'm concerned Charlie Adam is my player and I will keep treating him as that.
"If Charlie feels that way, if the chairman feels that way and there's a dispute then someone else has got to sort it out and I'm delighted that it's not me."
"If he feels aggrieved then he's dealing with it in the right manner and it will get sorted one way or another."
