Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has praised Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish after he masterminded his side to a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Seasiders at St Andrews this afternoon.
The Seasiders struggled to break down the Blues defence all game and were posed with the constant threat of Nikola Zigic and Gary O'Connor up front, with Alexander Hleb behind them in an advanced attacking role.
"He's a wily fox and more experienced, he's been in the Champions League and he won the battle," said Holloway.
"They played a diamond, they played two up front and it killed the space my lot are used to.
"I tried to change it, I tried to get the lads to do what I wanted but we couldn't get it to work."
"But well done to Birmingham, I thought they passed the ball very well and were very hard to break down. I think their manager beat me today."
