Blackpool FC new boy David Carney is confident the team can survive in the Premier League and enjoy a successful campaign this season.

Carney made his debut for the Seasiders in their impressive 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday, following his move to the club on transfer deadline day.

"There's a good bunch of lads, and the manager's got us all really together," Carney told the club's official website. "He likes to play attractive, fast football and I think that's why we're doing so well."

"It's only early days so we've got to keep the hard work going and look forward to it because it's exciting times. If we carry on playing like this I think we can have a really good season."

Blackpool face league leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Sunday and Carney is eager to get involved.

"It's not an easy place to go but that's exactly why you want to be a footballer and play at the highest level, to go to places like that and test yourself against the best players in the world."
