Blackpool FC boss Ian Holloway praised goalkeeper Matt Gilks after his late penalty save helped secure a 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough.

Gilks kept out Scott McDonald's effort from 12 yards eight minutes from time to preserve the advantage given to them by Brett Ormerod's opener.

DJ Campbell then tapped in at the death to complete the scoring.

"It was a fantastic save," said Holloway. "That secured the victory for us.

"I said all along that I've got two fantastic 'keepers here with totally different personalities.

"There's a calm one, Paul Rachubka, and the excitable one who staked his claim with a great save tonight.

"I didn't feel it was a penalty, I felt it was given as compensation for not sending Charlie Adam off earlier."
