Financial unrest hits Blackpool FC

Blackpool is suffering from financial unrest after first-team coach Steve McPhee walked out of the club yesterday following a wage dispute.

Members of playing and coaching staff are struggling to deal with seeing their pay-packets slashed by up to 50% following the club's relegation to the Championship.

Seasiders boss Ian Holloway said: "I can understand the chairman's point of view but he (Stephen) is adamant that he can't work for that (wage).

"I liked his development. I thought he had been absolutely outstanding over the summer."

News has also surfaced that defender Neal Eardley hasn't been included in the squad for tonight's Championship opener against Hull. He is also reported to be struggling to come to terms with his wage-cut.

My earnings have gone down to that of 10 to 15 years ago, hold your balls and get on with it

When are these guys going to realise that, even with the cut, they are earning far more than the average man, for something they enjoy doing
