Manchester United look to have won the battle to sign Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones.
The Daily Mail claims Jones will finally make the switch to Old Trafford after the Premier League champions refused to compromise on their £16.5 million offer.
Following a meeting with manager Steve Kean in India, Rovers owners Venky’s admitted defeat in their attempts to force United to pay more.
There were suggestions that the deal could flounder or that United would have to pay around £20 million to secure the services of the 19-year-old.
However, it seems United are confident they are legally on safe ground sticking to the £16.5 million bid which triggered the release clause in Jones’ contract.
