According to reports, doubts have been cast on the legitimacy of the prospective buyer of Blackburn Rovers.
A BBC investigation has raised concerns about Ashan Ali Syed who is looking to take over at Ewood Park with the promise of transfer funds for boss Sam Allardyce.
The BBC claims that Syed appears to have left a trail of debts when he lived in the UK for four years.
In addition, he does not seem to be well-known either in Bahrain or what he claims to be his home town, India.
A statement issued by Blackburn Rovers appeared to intimate the club’s hierarchy share those concerns.
The club is in desperate need of new investment to allow it to keep up with its rivals in the top flight.
Any offer made by Syed would need to be scrutinised by the Premier League.
