According to reports Blackburn Rovers are poised to add former Manchester City forward Benjani to their strikeforce for the coming season.
The Lancashire Telegraph understands Rovers are set to begin talks with the hitman in the next few days after he proved his fitness during a fortnight of training with the squad.
However, it seems Rovers boss Allardyce is still on the hunt for more strikers.
Chairman John Williams has confirmed that serious attempts have been made to attract another striker to Ewood Park but that they also want value for money.
He said: “We have made a couple of offers but the clubs’ valuations for these players are way above what we have offered.
“The valuations are substantially above what we are prepared to pay.”
The future of veteran hitman Jason Roberts still remains uncertain. The club are prepared to let him go but as yet no clubs have made a firm bid.
