Blackburn Rovers host Everton FC hoping history will repeat itself.

The last time Rovers met the Toffees on the first day of the league season they won 3-2.

Rovers performed consistently last season managing to avoid the battle against relegation with ease.

However, they face an uncertain campaign as protracted takeover talks have tied boss Sam Allardyce’s hands in the transfer market with only Manchester United loanee Mame Biram Diouf and Hugo Fernandez arriving at Ewood Park.

Allardyce has to make a decision on whether to include Diouf in his squad.

Midfielder Vince Grella (calf) is the only absentee.

Possible starting XIs:
Blackburn: Robinson, Jones, Salgado, Givet, Samba, Emerton, Dunn, Nzonzi, Pedersen, EH Diouf, MB Diouf
