Blackburn Rovers have been pipped by Celtic FC to the signature of Cardiff City midfielder Joe Ledley.
The 23-year-old has signed a four-year contract with SPL giants and he is now heading to the US for a pre-season tour.
Before leaving he said: "Celtic is a massive club.
"This is the right time to leave Cardiff and look at my career. Hopefully we can win the league and cups and I can play in Europe too."
It is understood that Celtic held back the completion of the deal until the season was officially over with the completion of the World Cup Final yesterday so that they did not have to pay compensation to Cardiff.
It was not the move Cardiff boss Dave Jones expected.
"I'm surprised," he said. "I thought he wanted Premiership football."
