Blackburn Rovers midfielder Vince Grella had to be withdrawn from a reserve team match after suffering a heavy knock in the warm-up.
The Australia international was set to play for the Rovers seconds in a match against Hull City last night but had to be replaced just half an hour before the first whistle.
He has struggled with a thigh injury this season and has managed just eight league starts.
Grella’s national teammate, Brett Emerton, started in the 1-0 win to Blackburn at Ewood Park.
