Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid hopes he can do well enough while on loan at West Bromwich Albion to convince manager Sam Allardyce to offer him a new contract.
Allardyce has allowed Reid to go on loan to prove he still has what it takes to cut it in the Premier League.
Reid told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It has been a difficult time. The manager has not seen too much of me because of the injuries but he has told me there is still a part for me to play at Blackburn.
“My contract is up in June so this is not just a move and a chill out. It is a big move for me.
“I have a lot to prove to a lot of people and to myself, that I can get back to the best I was a couple of seasons ago. I have no doubt I can do that.
“This is first and foremost about getting the games in. I just want to rediscover the form of a couple of years ago and there is no reason if I have a good month here my spell might not be extended.
“My contract is up in June, so who knows what is going to happen?”
