According to reports Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean did not know that Ryan Nelsen had been released by the club.
The People claims the Scot did not know the Kiwi's contract had been cancelled by Rovers.
It is understood Kean had not been told about Nelsen's move to Spurs until the deal was going through because senior officials at Blackburn had agreed with the 34-year-old New Zealand skipper to cancel the remaining term of his contract by mutual consent.
It is believed Nelsen has been fit to play for Blackburn but was left on the sidelines after falling out with Kean.
