Ryan Nelsen has admitted he plumped for a move to Tottenham Hotspur to win trophies.
The Kiwi agreed to terminate his contract at Blackburn Rovers before signing for the North London giants.
"Medals, trophies are things you strive for. Blackburn got to five semis and never made a final, so it's very exciting," Nelsen told New Zealand's 3News.
It was understood that a move to the Major Soccer League in the United States was on the cards before Spurs came calling.
