Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean has told Christopher Samba he still has a place at the club should he show he his committed to the cause.
Kean has insisted Samba will not be leaving in the current transfer window but has not shut the door on his involvement in the team.
Kean said he had the full backing of Blackburn's owners, Venky's, over his stance towards Samba, but accepted the Congo international may need time to accept the decision.
Asked if Samba would retain the captaincy, Kean said: "If he's playing and performing well and still wants to be at the club, yes."
