According to reports Blackburn Rovers are interested in Manchester City defender Wayne Bridge.

It is understood that Rovers boss Steve Kean is eyeing the former England international.

It is believed that Premier League rivals Aston Villa are also in the hunt but it seems they will both look to City to subsidise his wages, a move the Manchester club appears unwilling to make.

The Daily Mail claims Newcastle United are also interested if they continue to be priced out of a move for PSV's 23-year-old defender Erik Pieters.

If it was like two years ago Villa would have just bought him outright by now, offered him lower wages but first team football.
