Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean blamed his side’s home defeat to Wolves on the loss of senior players to injury.
After watching his young side lose 2-1 on the opening-day of the season, Kean pointed to the lack of experience at the heart of his defence.
He said: “When you’ve got [Kevin] Doyle and [Steven] Fletcher up-front who are an absolute pain for any centre-backs, never mind a holding midfield player playing at centre-back.
“We are stretched a little bit at the moment and are playing a couple of people out of position, which is difficult.
“Lots of the young guys find themselves on the pitch at the same time, which they probably wouldn’t if we had some of the other senior players available.
“But at the moment we don’t so what we need to do is get some people back from injury, bolster the squad and take the pressure off the young guys.”
