According to reports River Plate striker Mariano Pavone is still hopeful his move to Blackburn Rovers can go through.

Rumours of rival interest from Swansea City were dismissed by chairman Huw Jenkins yesterday.

His comments leave the way clear for Rovers to find a way to make the deal happen.

The Mirror claims Pavone is now hoping that the deal he agreed last week after passing a medical last week can be resurrected after financial problems surfaced.

Rovers manager Steve Kean has flown to India for a summit with the club’s Indian owners over their lack of new faces.
