A Lancashire woman whose mother was clubbed to death by her elderly father, has told how she feels like she has been permanently "blindfolded" since the tragedy.

Geoffrey Norton, admitted battering his wife Janet, 64, at their home in Preesall, earlier this year in an attack that shocked the small Flyde village,

Norton, 67, admiited his guilt when he appeared at Preston Crown Court. He also admitted a series of charges of "sexual touching" of children, on dates between 1976 and 2008. He will be sentenced later in the month.

Police launched a murder investigation after Janet, was found seriously assaulted in her home in Willow Grove Park, Preesall, on the morning of 22nd January 2010.

She was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and later transferred to Royal Preston Hospital where she died later the same day. A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death to be severe head injuries.

Norton was arrested at the scene and later charged with the killing.

DS Andy Lawless from the Force Major Investigation Team said: "I am pleased with today’s result and hope it provides some solace to Janet’s family and friends who remain devastated by their loss. Thankfully the family no longer have to face the prospect of sitting through a trial."

Janet’s daughter Pamela Vilorio Mieses, 43, paid tribut to her saying: "My mum, was a remarkable person. Of her many qualities she was an honest and sincere person with an absence of vanity. An individual who had an outstanding ability to listen, care and take all your problems away.

“I have lost my mum, I feel like I have been blindfolded and can’t take it off.

"I can’t believe what happened to her. Her pure generosity and loving nature I’ll miss the most and truly believe the lives of my family and her friends will never be the same.

"Again, it is an honour for me to have known and loved her as a mum, grandma and best friend."

Norton has also pleaded guilty to 12x offences of sexual touching, 11 between 1972 and 1976 and one in 2008.
He will be sentenced on Wednesday 10th November.
